NovaTalk is a free, anonymous video and text chat platform that randomly connects you with strangers worldwide. No account, no registration required — open NovaTalk, choose a mode, and chat instantly.
Is NovaTalk completely free?
Yes — 100% free. No premium tiers, no hidden costs. The platform is supported by non-intrusive advertising.
Do I need to create an account?
No. No usernames, no profiles, no email addresses. You are "You" and the other person is "Stranger." Anonymity is core to the NovaTalk experience.
How old do I need to be?
NovaTalk is strictly for users aged 18 and over. Parents should use parental controls to prevent minors from accessing random chat platforms. See our Safety Center.
How does the matching work?
When you click Start you're added to a waiting queue. Our Socket.io engine instantly pairs you with another waiting user. Matching is completely random — no filtering by location, gender, age, or any attribute.
Privacy & Security
Does NovaTalk record my video or chat?
No. Video/audio is transmitted peer-to-peer via WebRTC — our servers never see your media stream. Text chats are relayed in real-time and never stored. Full explanation: WebRTC article | Privacy Policy.
Is my IP address logged?
NovaTalk does not store IP addresses. Standard server access logs are automatically deleted within 24 hours. See our Privacy Policy.
Is the video call encrypted?
Yes. All WebRTC media is encrypted using DTLS-SRTP — mandatory in the WebRTC standard. Your video and audio cannot be intercepted by any third party. Read more: WebRTC deep-dive.
Technical
Which browsers are supported?
Chrome 80+, Firefox 75+, Safari 14+, Edge 80+, and all Chromium-based browsers. We recommend Chrome or Edge for best WebRTC performance. Internet Explorer is not supported.
Why isn't my camera working?
Click "Allow" when your browser requests camera/microphone permission. If you accidentally denied it, click the camera icon in your browser's address bar to reset. Ensure no other app (Zoom, Teams) is using your camera. NovaTalk must be served over HTTPS for getUserMedia to work.
Does NovaTalk work on mobile?
Yes! Fully responsive on iPhone (Safari 14+) and Android (Chrome). Check our video setup tips for best mobile experience.
Why is my video quality low?
WebRTC auto-adjusts quality based on bandwidth. For best quality: use stable Wi-Fi or wired ethernet, close bandwidth-heavy apps. See our video setup guide.
