How It Works
The Node.js backend identifies the platform from the pasted URL, uses official APIs or open-source extraction libraries to get the media URL, then either redirects the browser directly to the file or stream-proxies the download when the platform requires it. No files are stored on our servers — your downloads are never logged.
The Hosting Challenge
The main cost is bandwidth. When a user downloads a 50 MB TikTok video, that 50 MB passes through our server. At thousands of downloads per day this becomes significant. We are working toward affordable hosting infrastructure once funding is available.
